The Platform supports universities in developing their research and education portfolios, as well as their institutional strategies in the field of energy and environment. The mission is to maximise the impact of research, innovation, education and outreach activities in the two fields. The network achieves this through regular events, projects and publications and the sharing of good practices between university leaders and partners.  

The Platform serves as the voice of universities in the European debate on energy and environment research, education and innovation. It is a recognised SET-Plan stakeholder and contributes, on behalf of members and alongside stakeholders and partners, to the SET-Plan process, the European Technology and Innovation Platforms and other fora. 

The Platform connects universities with European stakeholders, including policy makers, European networks, companies and research organisations. It facilitates dialogue about higher education and energy research with a variety of partners. It also encourages universities to broaden their relations at the local, regional and national level to fully use their potential in specific contexts. 

The Platform organises regular events and workshops to support networking and clustering around thematic priorities. This allows members to create new connections and opportunities. In particular, the Energy Clustering Events are a platform for high-level dialogue on energy research and education in Europe.
